Northwest Schooner Society
The Society is currently restoring/rehabilitating the 1926 Biloxi schooner "Lavengro" and the 1906 Burrows Island Light Station. Volunteers restored the Lavengro to Coast Guard standards for charter in 2017, allowing paid events to pay for free public outreach sails. The light station, which was uninhabited and effectively open to the wind for over forty years, has a long way to go, but will eventually host "history tourists" in the summer to cover maintenance and experiential education programs.
