Carl Brandon Society
The Carl Brandon Society's mission is to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the production of and audience for speculative fiction and to highlight the diversity that's always been there. The volunteer-run Society sponsors the Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship; the Parallax Award, for works of speculative fiction by a self-identified person of color; and the Kindred Award, for a work of speculative fiction dealing with issues of race and ethnicity by a writer of any racial or ethnic group.
