Gulf South Mycological Society
Our mission is twofold: to educate our communities about the significance of our native fungi. Identification is important to this facet of our mission, as we aim to teach our members and their communities to identify our native fungi. Our second goal is to supplement the science of mycology by contributing to professional herbaria and sequencing noteworthy collections in the hopes of better understanding our under-explored fungal biodiversity.
